Reintegration Support Volunteer

PARKINSON's SUPPORT GROUP FACILITATOR (Kelowna)

Description: Volunteer Description: A support group facilitator works to create an environment that is safe and respectful, and where participants feel comfortable sharing their experiences, insight and knowledge with others. A support group facilitator will also assist with the delivery of PSBC approved information, education, and resources for people with Parkinson’s and their caregivers/families. The Facilitator will collaborate with the other support group volunteers. Must be available to facilitator both online and/or in-person meetings. Time commitment is 3-5 hours a month. Meetings are typically held on the first Thursday of each month at the First Mennonite Church in Kelowna BC. The facilitator works with the support group to: Establish their role as a collaborator: the facilitator is not an expert. Conduct group meetings in a caring, respectful and compassionate manner Promote the value of empowerment, encouraging individuals to be involved in making decisions about their own car Establish, with input from group participants, a list of ground rules and goals and review the list with the group on a regular basis. Foster an opportunity for people to interact with others dealing with similar health concerns; facilitate sharing of experiences living with Parkinson’s. Liaise with PSBC staff on behalf of the gr Communicate and provide PSBC approved resources, events, webinars, and information Develop and maintain a list of participants’ addresses, phone numbers, and emails. NITEO Volunteer Reading Mentor

NITEO Volunteer Book Wrangler

Description: NITEO is looking for volunteers to help sort and pack gently used books to be shipped to partners in Uganda to supply community and school libraries. Volunteers will meet at NITEO's shipping container and sort through book donations and pack them in boxes which they will weigh and catalogue. Volunteer shifts can be flexible around the volunteer's availability.

Farmer's Market Booth for InspireHealth Supportive Cancer Care

Description: InspireHealth will be hosting an information booth at the Kelowna Farmers Market, join us as a volunteer to connect with the community to bring awareness of our supportive cancer services. We are looking for volunteers to help with set up, and tear down of the information booth. Two shifts are available: 7am-10am, and 10am-2pm, on the following dates: June 8 (Wednesday) June 15 (Wednesday) July 9 (Saturday)

MERRY WIVES OF WINDSOR - Parking Volunteer

Description: Shakespeare Kelowna is looking for volunteers to direct traffic parking for the production of the Merry Wives of Windsor this July. Production dates are July 6-10 and 13-16, inclusive. We are looking for volunteers who are physically able to stand and direct traffic in a gravel parking lot for approximately 1 hour per night, including setup. Direction and training will be provided. Volunteers are invited to stay and enjoy the show - helping out on multiple nights is very much appreciated! Please note that this takes place at Spearhead Winery, 3950 Spiers Road, Kelowna. Transportation Service Volunteer Driver

Organization: Peachland Wellness Centre

Description: The Peachland Wellness Centre offers a very popular Transportation Service to take participants to necessary appointments, shopping, banking, or grocery shopping. Volunteer drivers use their vehicles to drive residents of Peachland to appointments. The Transportation Service provides vital support to Peachland residents without a car and those unable to drive, as the district does not have reliable public transportation. The Transportation Service allows participants to meet their needs and remain in the Peachland community.
