The Westbank Museum, located in West Kelowna, believes in the historical value of the cultural heritage of Westbank, its pioneers, and its community.
Mission:
Our mission is to be a cultural centre for the community and provide a repository dedicated to the ongoing collection, preservation, and interpretation of Westbank and the surrounding areas’ history.
Vision:
The Westbank Museum recognizes that we have a responsibility to consult, advocate, and partner with all members of the community. We strive to provide inclusive and equitable care that listens to and better represents the history, stories, and experiences in Westbank and the surrounding communities.
What we do:
We maintain a collection of thousands of artifacts and archival documents at the museum, which require curation, care, and cataloguing to keep the collection up to date and accessible to the public. Additionally, we maintain museum displays highlighting the history of Westbank/West Kelowna. We also host small-scale art workshops in the community, as well as community events in and out of the museum, including the Haunted House at the Museum in late October, and the Westside Multiculturalism Day on the last Saturday of June. We are also involved in external community events, such as the Community Light Up in early December, and Westside Daze in July.
We are also the West Kelowna Visitor Centre.
