KCR is a multi-service agency offering programs and projects in four overarching areas: Community Services Promotes community information, supporting volunteer management and hosting learning opportunities. Employment Services Helping unemployed and under-employed individuals identify career and educational goals, navigate the job search and develop essential job skills. Collaborating with employers in the Central Okanagan to more easily recruit quality applicants. Family & Adoption Services Providing family-centred, preventative supports and program referrals to parents with young children to increase knowledge, skills and community connections. Facilitating the legal and emotional process for adoptive parents building their family through intercountry and domestic adoption, for birthparents who want to make adoption plans and children in need of permanent homes. Immigrant Services Assisting Immigrants to Canada to feel welcome by providing information and connecting them to the community. Promoting the benefits of cultural diversity in our community by coordinating cultural awareness activities.

KGH Foundation owns several social enterprises located on site at Kelowna General Hospital (The Perking Lot, the Royal Bistro and the Centennial Mercantile Gift Shop, as well as The Rutland Hospital Auxiliary Thrift Store located at 140 Dougall Rd. N. All of these enterprises are operated by VOLUNTEERS. Revenue derived from these social enterprises are used to purchase state of the art medical equipment and services to enhance the care and comforts of the patients of KGH.

The Ki-Low-Na Friendship Society was established in 1974, and since then has served the Kelowna community with a wide range of services for people in all stages of life: infant, youth, adult, and Elder. Our programming and services include: English language classes for new Canadians, family & parenting programs, counselling, legal advocacy, employment support services, and outreach services. We currently operate an 86-unit affordable rental housing project near downtown Kelowna, and will soon break ground on a new subsidized rental housing project in the Black Mountain neighbourhood.

The Knox Mountain Hill Climb is made possible entirely by our dedicated volunteers. Without them, this historic event simply couldn’t happen. If you’re passionate about motorsports, volunteering at the Knox Mountain Hill Climb is an incredible opportunity to support the community and experience the action up close. MADD Canada strives to offer support services to victims/survivors, heighten awareness about the dangers of alcohol and/or drug-impaired driving, and to save lives and prevent injuries on our roads. Our Chapter is focused on promoting MADD’s objectives in the Central Okanagan. Among other things, we: organize and attend local events to raise awareness of the dangers of impaired driving. conduct local campaigns to reduce impaired driving, including the Campaign 911 signs featured on roads throughout our community. support local victims/survivors of impaired driving by providing emotional support, referrals to service providers, and information to help deal with the criminal justice process. The MS Society provides services to people with multiple sclerosis and their families and funds research to find the cause and cure for this disease. We have a membership of over 7,000 and are the only national voluntary organization in Canada that supports both MS research and services. Since our founding in 1948, the core support of the MS Society has been from tens of thousands of dedicated individuals, companies and foundations in communities across Canada. The Society receives almost no funding from government. The MS Society is governed by a board of directors comprised of 14 volunteer members who are elected annually. Some 1,500 volunteers serve on MS Society national, division and chapter boards and committees. An estimated 13,500 women and men are volunteers for service programs, fundraising events, public awareness campaigns and social action activities.

Canada has the highest rates of MS in the world; 12,000 British Columbians live with MS and upwards of 100,000 in Canada. Our mission is to be a leader in finding a cure for Multiple Sclerosis and enabling people affected by MS to enhance their quality of life.

Mary Ellen Humane Education Society is a registered non-profit organization which offers programs to help traumatized young people (ages 12-25) build life-skills and occupational skills by working with neglected dogs The mission of the MEHES is to provide a setting where traumatized youth will develop pro-social values (mastery, empathy, future orientation, literacy, an social conscience) by working with and training dogs in rescue.

NatureKids BC is a nature discovery and environmental action organization that helps children form meaningful and enduring connections with nature alongside their families. MISSION To help BC children get outside with their families to explore, play, learn about and take action for nature. VISION To build a healthy and sustainable future for our world by engaging every child and their family in the diversity, complexity and wonder of nature. VALUES Integrity, empowerment, collaboration, diversity and inclusion, good stewardship and community. WHAT WE DO Powered by passionate volunteers, members and donors, we engage young families in exploring the wonderfully diverse ecosystems of British Columbia through nature clubs in all corners of the province. We are passionate about making it easy for families to get out and explore, play, learn about, and take action for nature together. We introduce kids ages 5-12 and their families to the great outdoors through Explorer Days, NatureWILD Magazine, Citizenship Science and Stewardship initiatives and Awards programs.

NITEO exists to support young readers to obtain critical literacy skills in order to build bright and hopeful futures. We do this through local and global initiatives. Locally, we run a Family Reading Program for newcomer/refugee families in Kelowna. Volunteers meet with families once/week during our Fall, Winter, and Spring sessions for an afterschool program focused on developing literacy skills through group activities, games, and time spent reading together. Globally, we collect donations of gently used children's books to ship to partner organizations to establish community libraries in Uganda. We also provide literacy focused microgrants to partner organizations to further the work of literacy equity for all.
