Heartfulness Institute is a nonprofit organization, with several million practitioners in 160 countries. InkFreeBC Initiative Society is a non profit charity serving communities across British Columbia. Our mission is to provide: - free or subsidized laser tattoo removal - facial hair removal - scar reduction services to individuals facing barriers to employment, social reintegration, and personal challenges due to stigmatizing tattoos or scars, as well as members of the LGBTQ2S+ community seeking gender-affirming services. We partner with local, vetted laser clinics to provide these services safely and professionally, acting as a referral and support organization for individuals in each community.

InspireHealth provides you with programs and services to support your overall health during and after cancer treatment.

Located in British Columbia, InspireHealth is Canada's foremost integrated cancer care centre, leading the way through research and innovative cancer care programs integrated with conventional cancer treatment. Since 1997, InspireHealth's medical doctors have helped guide more than 7,000 patients to integrate research-informed natural approaches to health into their cancer treatment and recovery. There is growing evidence that these natural approaches to supporting health and immune system function can significantly decrease the risk of cancer recurrence and increase survival.

There are 3 Kelowna Long-Term Care Centers and 1 in West Kelowna within Interior Health. They are: Cottonwoods Care Centre, David Lloyd-Jones Home and Three Links Manor. Brookhaven Care Centre is located in West Kelowna. They range in size from 213 beds to 64. Our person’s in care range in age from young adults (in their 20’s) to some who are over 100 years old. Prospective Youth Volunteers must be a minimum of 13 years of age by December 31. They are selected, orientated and trained to assist our persons in care. The training sessions total three (3) 2 hour sessions and all Youth Volunteers must attend all three sessions in order to qualify to volunteer. Youth Volunteers provide that additional service which makes such a difference to the persons in care. Your bright, cheerful smiles and helping hands do much to add to the quality of life, comfort and care for our residents. Youth Volunteers are asked to volunteer for 1 day every week, for 1 ½ hours. Youth Healthcare Volunteer Duties include: Delivering Fresh water to residents rooms Assisting  staff with Recreation programming       Bingo Board & Card Games Music Entertainment Art & Crafts Baking Woodworking Spiritual care Companionship Bus outings...and so much more!  

The Interior Health Lifeline Program offers an emergency response services to those who live alone or are medically at risk and who wish to remain independent in their own homes. Volunteers are needed in the Kelowna and West Kelowna areas to install equipment, provide an equipment range test and demonstrate how the Lifeline equipment works as well as remove and clean Lifeline equipment, or troubleshoot any equipment issues such as battery replacements. Prerequisites for the position are a sense of humour, the ability to talk easily to seniors and others with multiple health issues, a couple of free hours a week and a roadworthy vehicle.  Mileage is paid at 50 cents per kilometre. A criminal record check is required and training will be provided by Interior Health staff.

Our organization has a strong history of assisting individuals experiencing a variety of challenges and social issues such as poverty, homelessness, mental health concerns, neurodevelopmental disabilities, and involvement in the criminal justice system. Our goal is to contribute to community wellness by offering services that support clients in a number of areas, including providing and assisting with housing, community reintegration, advocacy, support with mental health and addictions, while learning how to be accountable to others and responsible for themselves. It is important to have compassion balanced with strength so that we may provide the best in care for all of our program participants. The work of JHSOK is possible because of the combined drive and effort of staff and volunteers, interagency collaboration, partnerships with funders, support by the community, and the amazing and resilient people we serve. Johann Hari said that, “the opposite of Addiction is Connection”, could we go further then, and say that, “the opposite of Homelessness is Community”? At JHSOK we do just that, we help to bridge the gap and build strong communities, where everyone is welcome, included, and safe.
