Opportunity Description:

The MS Walk is a community-driven event for people living with or affected by MS as well as those who want to support our vision of creating a world free of MS.  Canadians come together in their communities every May to fundraise for and participate in MS Walk to help find the cause and cure for this disease. As part of the Central Okanagan MS Walk Committee you will plan and execute an inclusive, engaging event to connect and empower the MS community in your region.  MS impacts all Canadians, which is why we urge people to move forward together at MS Walk and help build awareness for the disease, raising much needed funds to allow us to continue to support people affected by MS.  This is a great opportunity to make an impact in your community using your talent and time. Sign up to volunteer today and help create positive change. Please contact Amanda Hibbs at if you are interested or looking for more detailed information on the following roles: MS Walk Stewardship Coordinator The Stewardship Coordinator plays a key role in recruiting individuals and teams to take part in the Walk.  In this role, you would be responsible for working with the MS Walk coordinator to ensure that all participants are being stewarded. This will include phone calls as well as emails to local participants.   MS Walk Promotions Coordinator The Promotions Coordinator will help get the word out about your local MS Walk through a variety of local marketing and promotions mediums.  You will have the opportunity to connect with media sponsors, engage in social media posting, write articles, put up posters, and be creative in how we engage your community in Walk. MS Walk Sponsorship Coordinator The Sponsorship Coordinator is responsible for stewarding the participation of local sponsors to enhance the event experience and keep event costs as low as possible.  Through your work as the Sponsorship Coordinator, you will ensure more funds raised go directly to creating a world free of MS. MS Walk Volunteer Coordinator The Volunteer Coordinator will work closely with the team at the MS Society to ensure we have support from a fantastic group of Day of Event Volunteers. You will have the opportunity to connect with your local community to recruit enough volunteers to fill various volunteer roles and instruct them on event day.  MS Walk Route Coordinator The Route Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring our participants have an enjoyable, accessible, and safe route to experience during the event. As the local route expert, your advance planning and execution of Route Coordinator responsibilities on event day will ensure a fabulous event experience for all Walk participants. Lead route signage  MS Walk Entertainment Coordinator The Entertainment Coordinator plays an important role in shaping the participant experience on site and on route.  This includes organizing entertainment and activities/games and managing the “main stage” and finish line experience to create a positive and memorable event experience for MS Walk participants. Time Commitment: Long term (November– June). Hours will vary based on the size of your community event. Hours will increase as the event approaches. We estimate these roles will take between 1 –3 hours per month. Meet online via Teams once or twice a month Must be available to attend the event at the end of May for approximately 8 hours.    The MS Society is dedicated to encouraging a supportive and inclusive culture where people from all backgrounds can thrive. Our aim is to ensure that all those interested in joining our team are given equal opportunity and that our organization is representative of all sections of society. We encourage all qualified applicants to apply. We are committed to accommodating applicants’ needs throughout the selection process. Please contact should you need accommodation. To learn more about the MS Society of Canada and the great work that we do, we encourage you to visit
