Opportunity Description:

Position Purpose: You are someone Children flock to and have a strong understanding of what makes a great Child Care provider. With these two characteristics in hand you will support others in Child Care programs for Children between the ages of 0-5 years old while actively playing alongside participating Children. Responsibilities and Duties: Foster a safe and inclusive play environment for Children and Toddlers of mixed developmental levels Have the eyes of a Hawk and ears of an Elephant to be aware of all going on around you within programs Demonstrate the YMCA core values Actively participate in and promote philanthropy through the YMCA Association initiatives, including the Strong Kids Campaign and other events (e.g. Healthy Kids Day) Qualifications: Upon request provide 3 references that are professional in nature (e.g. Employer, Supervisor or Colleague.) A satisfactory Criminal Record Check. Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check/Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than [six (6) months] preceding your start date. The YMCA will provide applicable instructions and paperwork. Degree or diploma in Child Care related field is an asset Expected Time Commitment: Volunteer shifts are typically 2-4 hours Weekly routine shifts are ideal but not required Pre-Volunteer Training YMCA Orientation Working one on one with Volunteer Coordinator to make sure there is an understanding of programs Competencies: A commitment to the mission, vision and values of the organization: Demonstrates and promotes a personal understanding of and appreciation for the mission, vision, strategic outcomes and values of the Y. Service Orientation: Deliberately identifies and creates opportunities to enhance each and every individual’s YMCA experience
