Be The Change Earth Alliance is a B.C.-based, charitable organization founded in 2005. Our mission is to educate and empower youth and educators to take positive steps towards an environmentally regenerative, socially just, and personally connected human presence on Earth. We deliver eco-social education initiatives that empower youth and educators with transformative learning experiences that engage the head, heart and hand. Our free student workshops and online library of learning resources, Student Leadership for Change, provide ongoing support for teachers and students in this work.
The Society for Children and Youth of BC (SCY) is a unique provincial organization dedicated to improving the well-being of children and youth in British Columbia.
Ronald McDonald House BC & Yukon provides a vital home away from home for families with seriously ill children requiring specialized medical treatment far from home. Supporting families from across BC and Yukon, including Prince George, Kamloops, Whitehorse, and Victoria, the House offers a place of comfort, healing, and togetherness during difficult times.
In addition to offering a safe and comforting place to stay, Ronald McDonald House BC & Yukon provides wellness programs to support the holistic healing of families. These include Music Therapy with a certified therapist, a Chef-led Family Meal Program, Massage Therapy, Pet Therapy, and Art Therapy, all designed to nurture both physical and emotional well-being during challenging times
Ovarian Cancer Canada champions the health and wellbeing of women with ovarian cancer and others at risk of this disease while advancing research to save lives. As the only registered Canadian charity solely dedicated to overcoming ovarian cancer, the organization provides leadership in research, advocacy, and support, so that women live fuller, better, longer lives.
The MS Society provides services to people with multiple sclerosis and their families and funds research to find the cause and cure for this disease. We have a membership of over 7,000 and are the only national voluntary organization in Canada that supports both MS research and services. Since our founding in 1948, the core support of the MS Society has been from tens of thousands of dedicated individuals, companies and foundations in communities across Canada. The Society receives almost no funding from government.
The MS Society is governed by a board of directors comprised of 14 volunteer members who are elected annually.
Some 1,500 volunteers serve on MS Society national, division and chapter boards and committees. An estimated 13,500 women and men are volunteers for service programs, fundraising events, public awareness campaigns and social action activities.
Ovarian Cancer Canada is the only registered Canadian charity solely dedicated to eradicating ovarian cancer and preventing it from the future. OCC demands action, delivers change, and transforms lives. OCC stands hand-in-hand with the people experiencing, affected by, or at risk and will not rest until women are able to live their lives freely, fully, and uninhibited by ovarian cancer. Honouring and preserving the animal-human bond
ElderDog Canada is a national, registered charitable organization dedicated to ageing people, ageing dogs, and the important connection they enjoy. Our purposes are to:
- Assist and support older adults in the care and well-being of their canine companions;
- Promote the welfare of older dogs whose lives have been disrupted due to illness, relocation or death of a human companion;
- Educate about the human-animal bond in general and the significant role of companion animals in the health and well-being of seniors;
- Support and conduct research into the human-animal bond with a focus on seniors and canine companionship.
BreakOut West, the Western Canadian Music Awards, and the Western Canadian Music Industry Awards are the primary events hosted by the Western Canadian Music Alliance – an organization created by the Music Industry Associations (MIA’s) of British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, The Northwest Territories and the Yukon Territory – to promote and celebrate western Canadian music.
Each year the event is held in a different western Canadian region on a rotational basis. This year, the event will be held in Kelowna, BC, from October 10-14, 2018. This four-day event is comprised of a 4-day music conference, a 3-night multi-genre music festival, the Western Canadian Music Industry Awards Brunch and the Western Canadian Music Awards Reception.
The Peachland Wellness Centre (PWC) provides programs and services that connect people through support, education, information, referral and outreach. PWC strives to ensure that people in our community are supported to embrace a happy, healthy and independent life.
Results is a nonprofit advocacy organization of passionate staff and volunteers committed to generating the political will to end extreme poverty in low- and middle-income countries. We focus our work on global health, access to quality education and economic opportunities.
What does political will mean? We believe in mobilizing everyday people (our volunteers) to influence the Government of Canada. We direct our energy and efforts at government decision makers like party leaders, Members of Parliament and senators because they have the power to improve policies and make the monetary investments needed to end extreme poverty. We also raise awareness by writing letters to the editor (LTEs) and op-eds, using social media, fundraising and more.
Oftentimes the first step is putting these issues on the radar — and keeping the pressure on. It might seem like a small step, but it all adds up into impact.
NatureKids BC is a nature discovery and environmental action organization that helps children form meaningful and enduring connections with nature alongside their families.

WHAT WE DO
Powered by passionate volunteers, members and donors, we engage young families in exploring the wonderfully diverse ecosystems of British Columbia through nature clubs in all corners of the province. We are passionate about making it easy for families to get out and explore, play, learn about, and take action for nature together. We introduce kids ages 5-12 and their families to the great outdoors through Explorer Days, NatureWILD Magazine, Citizenship Science and Stewardship initiatives and Awards programs.
Girl Guides is a catalyst for girls empowering girls. We provide girls age 5-17 with the opportunity to try new experiences, challenge themselves and build their confidence, all within a safe environment. Our volunteers help deliver a unique program that encourages girls to build life skills in outdoor adventure, financial literacy, mental health, advocacy and more. Together, we’re building a better world, by girls.
