Happy National Volunteer Week! Today marks the very first day of this wonderful week across Canada, and here at Volunteer Kelowna, we could not be more excited to celebrate with you.

Calling all British Columbians! Whether you are grabbing a morning coffee on Pandosy Street, taking your usual Cycling, or just braving our famous Winter valley inversions, today is the perfect day to pause and think about the power of community. Volunteering is the heartbeat of our area, and this week is all about saying a big thank you to those who gladly give their time.

It is truly amazing to see how much volunteering brings life to the Kelowna region. From the wider spaces of British Columbia right down to your own Rutland, everyday people are stepping up to help out. It makes our home a better, brighter place to live for everyone.

Find Your Way to Give Back

If you have been thinking about volunteering, this week is the best time to start. There are so many simple and rewarding ways to get involved that easily fit your schedule. You can support local causes by checking out our community service opportunities, or you can make a big impact by helping with children and youth programs.

Do you love spending time outdoors? You might find volunteer roles that let you enjoy Knox Mountain Park or help you discover a lovely place like Kuipers Peak Mountain Park. If you have different interests, you can also look into helping out with animal care or supporting local arts and culture. There is truly something for everyone.

To learn more about the amazing groups doing this work, you can browse our directory of local nonprofits. You can also see what special activities are happening this week by visiting our events page or taking a quick look at our community calendar.

Spread the Word

The absolute best way to kick off National Volunteer Week is to share the joy of giving back. Talk to your friends, family, or neighbors about why you care about your community.

Better yet, invite a friend to join you! Send them a link to explore our open volunteer roles and find something fun to do together. Let us make this week unforgettable. Share your volunteer stories online using #VolunteerKelowna to spread the word!
