Opportunity Description:

Position Purpose: Have you found yourself wondering if your knowledge about the YMCA of Okanagan can be used for trivia? Are you passionate about your YMCA? Someone who stays up to date on all the programs we offer? If you answered yes to one or more of these questions, then perhaps our YMCA Expert Volunteer opportunity is for you! As a YMCA Expert you’ll be the first point of contact for visitors to our facilities and have the responsibility of showing new or prospective members around the facility and answering questions they may have about our membership types, programming and more. Facility Location: Kelowna Family YMCA, 375 Hartman Road, Kelowna BC H2O Adventure and Fitness Centre, 4075 Gordon Drive, Kelowna BC Responsibilities and Duties: Greet all visitors to your facility Sign in Members who have forgotten their ID and take ID from anyone 19 or older who isn’t a member Sign Members up for classes using Mind and Body software Maintain up to date knowledge on all YMCA programs at your facility Communicate with Member Services reps about current promotions Assist with administrative duties as needed Provide engaging and fun tours of the facility Demonstrate the YMCA core values Actively participate in and promote philanthropy through the YMCA Association initiatives, including the Strong Kids Campaign and other events (e.g. Healthy Kids Day) Qualifications: Experience with Mind and Body or CLASS software is an asset Upon request provide 3 references that are professional in nature (e.g. Employer, Supervisor or Colleague.) A satisfactory Criminal Record Check. Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check/Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than [six (6) months] preceding your start date. The YMCA will provide applicable instructions and paperwork. Expected Time Commitment: Minimum Two hour shifts at your facility once per week (Typically Weekday evenings and Weekend Mornings) Any time needed to keep up to date with all programs Pre- Volunteer Training YMCA Child Protection and Volunteer Orientation Competencies: A commitment to the mission, vision and values of the organization: Demonstrates and promotes a personal understanding of and appreciation for the mission, vision, strategic outcomes and values of the Y.
